I just love being with my sisters. We all get along really well and it is just fun to be together. Kristine and her husband Ronn and her kids Olivia and Kaitlynn drove up from Chandler to spend the weekend. We had a great time just not alot of sleep. Kris and I are night owls so it was fun to have someone to talk to at 2 am.

This is Kristine and her cute little family. Olivia is 3 and Kaitlynn is 4 months old.

My mom loves to be with her girls. In November of 2006 my mom was diagnosed with Lymphoma. At the time it was the most devastating news to hear. When my family moved back to Arizona from Las Vegas in 1997, my mom get really sick. After a while, the doctors told her she had Sjogrens syndrome. It was not a disease that could take her life but it could lead to lymphoma, which could. Sjogrens is a fairly new disease that attacks the glands causing you to lose the moisture your system normally produces. My mom can't cry, she has no tears, she carries water with her at all times so she doesn't choke on her food. Her saliva glands had swollen up so bad that the doctors felt it was time to remove it so that it doesn't cause her more pain. Once they removed what little of the gland that they could, they discovered it was malignant. When we found out she would have chemo, all the girls said, "Her hair!" My mom hates to swim for fear of messing up her hair. We even thought of shaving our heads to match hers but after finding out from my mom that that wouldn't make her feel any better, we were glad to keep our locks. Well, she faired extremely well and her new short due is very cute. She was so brave throughout the whole ordeal and almost never complained. I love her so much and am so lucky to be so close to her. Thanks to Verizon, I can call her everyday for free.

Little Kaitlynn was blessed at our home in front of most of her family. Jason's kids were sick so they weren't able to come to the shower and to the blessing and Sean and his family weren't able to come either. I was so glad to be a part of this blessing. Ronn is a convert to the church and has a strong testimony. Kris and Ronn have dated since they were 14. (Oh, I mean 16...) He is a great father and his blessing was beautiful. I have enjoyed watching his testimony grow. He grew up Jewish and joined the church about a year before they were married. Ronn has always stayed strong in his faith and is a great example. It is fun to see how the gospel has turned him into such a strong man.

Mel,
I love the pictures of you and your sisters. It's fun to hear about your family. I know exactly how you feel about sisters. I feel so lucky to be two hours close to ONE of my sisters. I miss the others a ton. Have fun with them while they're around.
I can't believe those are your little sisters! I am jealous since I have none! So sorry to hear about your mom. I am glad she is doing well.
What a great example you have in your mother. I'm sorry you guys all had to go through such an ordeal. Is it behind her now? What's the status? Do all your sisters live in UT? Maybe I should just e-mail you and ask you all sorts of questions. This post piqued my interest as to what else is going on in your life. You're a rockstar MEL!!!
I am sad to hear about your mom's health. In our high school days she was lots of fun. I am glad you are so close to your mom and sister!! You sisters are all grown up! Very fun to see them having babies and being moms! You look great and your kids are darling. Where is your husband? Next time I come to Utah I will for sure look you up, I won't forget your address/phone number.
OK did you erase my comment or did I just not publish it successfully! Well it was long and quite profound.
I loved loved loved seeing pics of your little sisters and your mom. I was saddened to hear of her health problems. She was always such a beautiful lady and still is. Please tell them hi for me.
I have been thinking about you a lot since I was put into YWomens. A lot of fun memories are popping up that I haven't thought about in many years.
The shower was great and it was so fun to see everyone! I love you all so much...
